Falkland Palace-seem to be following Mary Queen of Scots around at moment

Falkland Palace, Em! no it’s the other one.

For part of our trails we decided to invest in a yearly pass for Historic Scotland which we felt would save us a lot of money on our adventures. We had been to Falkland a few times as it is a lovely little historic village in Fife, mainly just for a sightseeing trip and of course lunch but had never actually ventured into the Palace, partly due to cost and partly due to timing issues on our part, often arriving to late to take advantage of a full days visit.

Now I know these types of ‘paranormal trips’ are linked to night-time or on dark ‘dreich”days (bleak and cold) by the media or popular myth but to me that is for aesthetic purposes only. Personally, and I don’t mind admitting it, I would find it scary and would wonder how much my imagination was controlling my psychic ability.  So that said we got up bright and breezy and descended onto Falkland Place on the morning of a beautiful sunny day with our newly acquired Historic Scotland Passes. We can’t accept those passes a lovely polite lady announced at the reception “why has there been some mistake? Are they not valid yet? We just purchased them, what is the issue? Well said the lady with a sympathetic look “They are Historic Scotland passes and this is National Trust. Oops! Well to cut a long story short we ended up signing up for National Trust which saved us the entry fee and will open up more trail destinations in the future.

As soon as we entered the first room, I immediately picked up on the strong presence, of two females which made me feel nauseous as they both immediately attached themselves to me. I felt ,ll that one, the younger of the two had been quite ill and had died relatively young with something to with stomach area. Both had a strong attachment to the place as if it was their home. Surprisingly though. I felt both had lived in 20th century and not what I expected from the fact that the Palace is quite a few centuries old, unfortunately I could not shake of their presence for most of my trip around the internal buildings. There were also a few other people milling around preventing me from tuning into their energies more. Once outside into the grounds that feeling left me and I felt peaceful.

The obvious history is that Mary Queen of Scots and several Royal Linage stayed there but, on this day, I did not pick up on any other entity or energy.

Now the only problem in doing an informal investigation on a popular visitor day is the amount of other visitors and as an Empath, that proves difficult as I start to pick up lots of energies and that is what happened at the start of our visit. Quite often we wait until areas are quieter so I can attempt to tune in but it then takes a lot of time and also uses up my energy but on the bright side we now have our passes so can visit as many times as we like, and we will definitely be back when it is a bit quieter.

What a beautiful place to visit, this was one of my favourites so far I felt so peaceful here and would love to go back when gardens are in even fuller bloom and the sun is shining. As Rose said we started out on a new enchanted trail with a degree of excitement to Falkland on a bright sunny morning filled with enthusiasm and a small degree of smugness when we arrived . As we skipped into the “shorter members only queue line” and presented our Historic Scotland passes only to be told we were at a National trust site ! After a fair amount of laughter about our mistake we signed up with National trust making our visit that day considerably cheaper with the added bonus that we can visit any amount of other sites for free throughout the year.

It is something everyone should consider then you can have days out throughout year without considerable expense and your membership goes to maintenance and upkeep of some amazing places : https://www.nts.org.uk

I was so fascinated with the history of this palace I was engrossed in the paintings, the furnishings and the secret rooms (yes the guide was fab ) that soon Rose and I became separated in our own wee worlds on our individual trip round the palace and by time we met up outside in the gardens the rain had started to pour .We sheltered for little while (TBH as usual we were looking for the tea room ) but I was keen to see the famous tennis courts where Mary Queen Scots would go to play her new favourite game. The court had been built specially to retain her privacy and did not disappoint when viewed. The tall walls loomed over and shaded the open court. I did not feel anything psychic here but I was fascinated with the tennis courts and could have stayed there forever just imagining the small framed MQS playing with her courters. It seemed a very pleasing place to be. I felt very peaceful here in Falkland

Such beautiful gardens I loved photographing them especially this secret little garden on way out. I would love to be invited back here for an advanced behind scenes tour and unfortunately no photographs were allowed inside in Palace so I cant do it justice as a visitor to the interior splendour.

.

I feel Falkland Palace was very much one of serenity and happiness with much activity always taking place in the gardens. Deeply wooded at first then carefully sculpted and developed and structured over time. It gives appearances of wild abandonment but tamed to look so. I loved it here I could image past footprints happily and contently strolling in sunshine through these gardens from many different residents and their visitors .
