Blackness Castle – My Gateway to Hell.
I have visited Blackness Castle a few times over the years so in reality it wasn’t a new trail in the sense of being unaware of the fact that several poor souls had been imprisoned there over the centuries. To me it is filled with negative energy and most of the time I leave feeling sick and with a headache. The first time I remember visiting the castle was when I was about 10 years old. I remember the feeling of being absolutely terrified of some evil force that I felt the presence of. This was much to my parent’s amusement as my Ghost Talk was not taken seriously by them then and I recall they thought it even funnier when I was convinced that it had followed me home. I did not know what IT was but for weeks after my visit I refused to stay or go into the house myself. I got to be quite good when I was a child of pushing my younger sister in front of me when we went anywhere, I thought was remotely spooky saying I would protect her if anything happened.
(NOTE TO SELF – JUST READ THIS DON’T TRUST BIG SIS AGAIN !LOL)
With this feeling of trepidation in mind, myself and Daisy went to visit Blackness Castle pushing her in front of me was not an option. Yes, as walked into the ruined castle corridor she took the lead but before I could catch up, she began to engage in a conversation with another visitor about photography and I had to walk into the main body of the Castle. Yes, I could still feel that negative energy, a male. I was not keen to try and tune into him. I turned around to see if I could get Daisy’s attention, but she was deep in conversation. It may have been the way the sunlight was hitting the rocky outcrop ruins, but I felt lightheaded, so decided to make my way down the recently erected wooden Pier which led to the Firth of Forth. I started to feel better as soon as I left the body of the castle. As I gazed over the wooden fence, I watched the wind-blown waves softly massage the land surrounding the castle. I fancied I could see smugglers in the past off load their goods and made a mental note to research this. As I was about to move, I had the overwhelming feeling and visual image that there had been shipwreck, with bodies and people clambering ashore. At that point Daisy arrived saying she wasn’t feeling well with a headache and didn’t want to stay long, We went back into the body of the castle and into one of the towers, but opted not to climb the stairs. As we stood there, we both had a sense as though someone was watching. I took a couple of pictures in quick succession of the area where I felt the energy force. We decided to call it a day. Later that night I was browsing through some of the pictures that I had taken in the tower room one of the pictures (they were only taken milliseconds apart), had what looked like some kind of strange light, hovering above which would have once been another floor or corridor. Interesting indeed.

All I have to say is I started out with a huge amount of enthusiasm with my camera armed at ready (as I love photographing by sea) but I don’t know what happened as nearly ever picture I took when I looked back on my camera was really over exposed despite settings being correct .I started out having lovely wee chat about photography with another couple to going to having worst headache ever and feeling sick I don’t know how much I would read into this as sometimes the two can often go together for anyone but I knew at that moment for whatever reason had to find Big Sis and get home . That said whatever it was-me just being ill or weird psychic connection or not to Blackness Castle I don’t know but all am saying is I don’t like the place anyway It feels Empty but full of lost souls .It feels Evil and dark and I certainly wouldn’t go in here for love nor money in a dark night .As I said to my sister the spooky person just got spooked !
2 Paracetamol and I was as good as new but disappointed in my photographs as now I may need to go back (yikes) Might be place to invite others on an enchantedtrailseeker adventure-would be interesting to hear other opinions.
need to research who was gate-keeper – as feel there was a central man almost monk like and cant help feeling Mary Queen Scots connection also although to be fair we are near Linlithgow.
researched-for information-it is written that
After forced abduction of MQS in 1567. the garrison at Blackness remained loyal to her.
There was a main keeper of prison during 18th century .research continues as to his role
